British Computer Society South West Branch Prize for best Computer Science Graduate at Exeter University
Christopher Larcombe has been awarded the British Computer Society South West Branch Prize for best Computer Science Graduate at Exeter University. He was presented with his prize of £150 and BCS membership at the University's Graduation Ceremony by Ted Draper of the BCS.

The PetaFlop is here
On 9th June IBM announced that the RoadRunner machine had achieved PetaFlop performance; this is 1,000,000,000,000,000 floating point operations per second. Road Runner is now officially the fastest computer on earth or ever build. The machine will be extensively discussed at the International Supercomputer Conference in Dresden next week

Health Informatics in the Southwest
Health Informatics (HI) is a rapidly growing specialty. Its cross-disciplinary nature, however, renders the subject highly challenging for practitioners. BCS has a long tradition of supporting HI. BCS Southwest is actively encouraging liaison between industry, healthcare and academia. Through such liaison, new and exciting ideas can be found as well as providing support and encouragement for existing projects.
